Bio:
Lee Bredeson traveled across the world long before he discovered the 'world of orchids'. His former career (since 1980) was as a designer of private residences primarily on Hilton Head Island, SC, USA. Lee was introduced to orchids in the late 1990s. Since 2005 he has traveled to numerous orchid conferences, events and to explore for orchids both cultivated and in their natural habitats. Destinations included Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and often to Ecuador. More travel continues in 2012!

Following the 'banking crisis' and the severe decline in the housing industry, Lee volunteered in Ecuador, one of the most bio-diverse places on earth.  He was invited by the largest orchid producing corporation in South America to assist in design and other projects. Ecuagenera is at the forefront of preserving the estimated 4,000 species of orchids still being discovered in Ecuador. The corporation has been gifted and/or cultivated 2800 of these species. Some of these species are now extinct in nature.

"We plan to help in the re-introduction of native orchids to locations similar to those that have been lost. We will utilize "managed orchid preserves," said Mr. Bredeson.

Lee assisted in the recruitment of American Orchid Society judges and participants from North America and Europe for the Premiere International and Second National Exposition of Orchids at Cuenca, Ecuador. He also provided design for the overall venue and individual exhibits.
